Flood Defence - deadline extended again
A meeting of the Chester Green Residents Association last week has really stirred up the debate concerning the flood defences. Chester Green raised concern at the prospect of soaring insurance premiums for properties in flood risk areas if nothing is done before the agreement between the Government and the Insurance Industry expires in July of next year. North Derby MP Chris Williamson has raised the issue in Parliament, and Matthew Holmes cabinet member for planning and environment has written to RiCopy attached).
Mr Holmes has also extended the deadline for the consultation process until the end of April, and after the Darley Abbey Society's AGM. Representatives from the Environment Agency and City Council behind the project will be attending the Darley Abbey Society AGM on Thursday 19th April at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. Members and their guests will be welcome and will have an opportunity to state their views on the proposals.
