Foot and Cycle Path Closure
The next phase of the Our City Our River project – Project Munio, which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund includes flood defence works through the Riverside Gardens and Pride Park.
As part of this project there is the opportunity to carry out a number of environmental improvements along the river.
As part of this, the section of access track from South Avenue to the Midland canoe club and Local Nature Reserve is to be re-surfaced as it is in a poor state. The works have been tendered and awarded to Alliance Contracting.
The works are due to start Monday 24th June and continue for approx. 3 weeks. During this time the entire path from Old Lane to the canoe club will be closed for safety reasons.
As the access track is only 3m wide it makes moving materials around very difficult so it will be necessary to set up a compound in the parking bays on Darley Street for the duration of the works.
