Repairs to Darley Abbey Mill buildings underway
Patterns Properties Ltd has secured funding from English Heritage to carry out urgent repairs on two of Darley Abbey's historic Mill Buildings. Roof repairs are being carried out at the North Mill following which the Company hopes to obtain tenants for the upper floors. The Company is also carrying out urgent repairs to the former Manager's House. The work will make the building wind and water tight, but as the building is in a very poor state, a lot more work will be required to bring it back into use. Much of the Mill complex has been let to new tenants in recent weeks. Managing Director of the Company Anthony Attwood said that he hoped the area would become a hub for high tech and design businesses. In a separate move a Heritage lottery has been obtained to improve the landscaping around the Mills.
